The International Alliance of Catholic Knights extends its warmest and most prayerful congratulations to Dr Patrick E. Kelly, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, following his appointment by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV as a member of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life.

The appointment was announced by the Holy See on 25 August 2026.

The Dicastery serves the Holy Father in matters concerning the apostolate of the lay faithful, the pastoral care of families and the protection and support of human life. Supreme Knight Kelly brings to this important responsibility extensive experience of leadership and a steadfast commitment to the Church, marriage and family life, the dignity of every human person, and religious freedom.

The Knights of Columbus is one of the founding Member Orders of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights. Its continuing witness through charity, unity, fraternity and service has brought practical assistance and the hope of the Gospel to communities throughout the world.
