We join with our Brothers of the Southern Cross, and with all peace-loving Australians, in shock and sorrow at the tragic events at Bondi Beach.
As we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, a season of hope and expectation so close to Christmas, our hearts are heavy for the lives lost and for all those affected by this senseless tragedy.

The Knights of Peter Claver, USA, have elected a new Supreme Knight. He is James K. Ellis who succeeds DeKarlos Blackmon. He is the 17th Supreme Knight of the Order which was founded in 1909. The Order is named after St. Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest from Spain who ministered to African slaves in the 17th Century. Peter Claver is said to have converted over 300,000 slaves to Catholicism.

The Vatican has announced that Blessed Mary MacKillop is to be raised to Sainthood. It is great news for all Australian Catholics as she will be their first saint. The news is of particular interest and excitement to the Knights of the Southern Cross, Australia, as she is the Patroness of their Order. They have joined with the Sisters of St. Joseph over the past years to pray for her canonization.

The Knights of the Southern Cross have issued an invitation to all Orders in the Alliance to display materials relating to their Orders on a stall manned by them during the Vocations Expo. An Invitation to a Reception is also extended to any brother attending WYD. An explanatory letter is attached to the email accompanying this newsletter.
