We join with our Brothers of the Southern Cross, and with all peace-loving Australians, in shock and sorrow at the tragic events at Bondi Beach.
As we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, a season of hope and expectation so close to Christmas, our hearts are heavy for the lives lost and for all those affected by this senseless tragedy.

The late Cardinal Basil Hume said, “The great gift of Easter is hope”. I was reminded of this on the Tuesday of Holy Week by my good friend Father Philip Baptiste who is a Chaplain to the Knights of St Columba in London. The words of His Eminence really sum up for me the Easter message.

I am very honoured to once again share the President’s Christmas Message to the Brothers, Ladies and Families of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights.

As I sit down to write this Easter Message to our Knights and Ladies throughout the world, lockdowns and restrictions continue in some form, in all of our countries.
Twelve months ago I wrote my first Easter Message just as international restrictions were being implemented.

Dear Brothers As I sit down to write this Christmas message to the Alliance I am reminded of what I wrote in March as we approached Easter. I said that I didn’t think that any previous International President had penned…

I am delighted to hear this wonderful news, not only for the Knights of Columbus, but the whole International Alliance of Catholic Knights, that Fr Michael McGivney is to be beatified later this year.

I am deeply saddened to inform you of the passing to his eternal reward of Brother Alan Diesel.
Brother Alan was a Past Supreme Knight of the Knights of Da Gama (South Africa) and was also a founding member of the International Alliance in 1979.

I am sure that since the founding of the Alliance in 1979 no President has sat down to write his Easter message in the circumstances, we find ourselves in at present.
In my own country of Scotland, we are in total lockdown with no one able to leave the house except for essential reasons and even our churches are closed to the public.

I never had the opportunity to meet Brother Virgil Dechant but a number of my predecessor Supreme Knights in the UK did.
Those who did know and meet him said was that he treated them and the SKs throughout the world as equal as Supreme Knights, irrespective of the individual country or jurisdiction.
